About
I am interested in how ideas about space and time implicit in languages can influence conservation practices. I'm researching spatial coordinate systems in certain indigenous languages and how they differ from Indo-European languages in framing the relationship between land and the individual, place and time, and home and elsewhere.
I'm also interested in methods to better link emissions offsetting with biodiversity protection - especially through the use of forestry projects. Forest protection and afforestation can preserve habitats and create biodiversity corridors while also serving as emissions sinks. What would motivate companies and organizations offering offsets to invest in these types of projects, and what problems do joint emissions-offsetting and biodiversity projects face?
I would much appreciate more sources and additional information about these topics.
